Company’s products also make use of third-party software applications, services and media content. The company also faces increasing number of cases of patent infringement or intellectual property litigations. The company has to ensure that it acquires the necessary licensing for such objects. This may have an impact on the organizations’ operating margin. The company has recently witnessed change in the leadership due to the demise of Steve Jobs. Tim Cook who has taken over as the CEO has to ensure that the organization continues to innovate and release new products and services.

The company grew with Steve Jobs because of his vision and negotiation skills. The same is expected from the new management team. The organization operates in an environment which is characterized by rapid technological advances. In order to compete, it is necessary that Apple continues to invest in research and development to expand its product range. Apple is characterized for its excellent design products and services, excellent marketing, great and stable alliances, and strong brand value.

These internal characteristics make it a world class organization. It is important that the company continues building on these competencies. The technology product and services is a continuously evolving marketplace. The industry has been witnessing increasing number of existing and new competitors launching their products and services in direct or indirect competition to Apple. There are tough competitors in all the market spaces that Apple operates in. While Google’s Android operating system has been challenging Apple iPhone leadership, Yahoo, Microsoft have been competing against the music service business.
