Intellectual Property Issue Affiliation: The best way is to bring up the issue under the discussion of ethics. Joel can engage the class in ethical discussion and even guide them to bring up the issue of plagiarism and the effects is can bring to not only one’s personal life but professional one as well as it is infringing the ethical code of behavior. Joel should explain in detail to the class without making any accusations to the students directly about the negative effects that can befall an individual once their work is realized to have been “borrowed” from elsewhere especially the internet where they carry out their research from.

This approach is non-accusatory but will enable the students understand that what they do is unethical and can cause them their profession as well as personal reputation (Reiser and Dempsey, 2012). After the ethical discussion and in order to make the students understand the seriousness of plagiarism, Joel should introduce to them the copyright and property rights. He should especially emphasize on the consequences and penalties that people who are found infringing these rights is subjected to.

This information should be the deal breaker of the bad habits the students have acquired. Joel should cancel the work of the students who have this behavior and provide them a chance to redo their assignment again. If the same thing happens again, then the student should not receive any grade at all. This will act as a warning to the rest of the students who like engaging in similar unethical behavior.ReferencesReiser, R. and Dempsey, J. (2012). Trends and Issues in Instructional Design and Technology (3rd Ed.). Boston: Pearson.
