Personal ment I was born into a family in China that had a highly diverse interest in world events and a particularly keen interest in the British royal family. This is perhaps one of the many reasons that I grew up with such a fascination for anything British and wishing to spend a portion of my life living in England. Having grown up in a highly rigid educational structure, I have always longed for the freedom to experience a method of education that encourages individuality and creative thinking in their students. Although my parents strongly encouraged those traits in me as a child, it became extremely dificult for me as my education progressed to veer away from the mandated education materials of the school system. My desire to constantly learn about the world and need for a stimulating class discussion in order to keep me interested in class led my family and I to the understanding that my educational needs would best be served by an educational system immensely different from the one I got used to in China. Luckily, my family is well heeled in Chinese society and as such, does not experience financial difficulties. That is why when the opportunity came up for me to be able to study abroad, thedy did not hesitate to tell me that they would support me during my educational stint abroad in the same manner that they supported me in China. Just like my family members, I too believe that I will benefit a great deal from the education that I will be receiving from British schools and educators. Being one of the most economically sound countries in Europe, I know that I will have a great opportunity to learn about the British culture. So far, all that I know about the British culture is what I learned from the stories that my well traveled older family members have shared with me. Add to that the information that I receive about the royal family from magazines and internet websites and I become quite excited to experience the British way of life. I am looking forward to celebrating the special occassions that the country celebrates because for me, that will be part of my education and will help open my eyes to the way the other people in the world live. This kind of world experience is not something that everyone in China is given a chance to experience so I am not going to waste my chance now that it has presented itself to me. But that is enough about my personal background. I would like to now present myself as a viable candiate for your notable academic institution. To begin with, I would like to discuss my exposure to the world of Electrical Engineering in the sense of how it helped me choose the career path that I wanted for myself. Just like any child, my first role model was my father who was and still is, an expert in the field of electrical engineering and automation. Growing up I remember he would take me with him to work where I would sit in a corner and observe him in action. My father always believed that nobody is ever too young to learn how to do anything. Which is why strongly encouraged me to try my hand at the things he was doing when I became old enough to handle simple tools with his supervision. Little did I know that he was slowly influencing me into developing an interest in electrical engineering. Before we both knew it, I was already of college age and ready to choose my career path. Having assisted my father for a marked amount of time with his electrical engineering tasks, it sort of became a no-brainer on my part. I knew that I wanted to follow in my fathers path without even having to stop to consider it. I found myself enrolling in college with an intended major of Electrical Engineering in China. It was a course that I enjoyed studying without even realizing that I was already laying the foundation for my future academic and career plans. Having completed my studies in China, I am now ready and well equipped to try my hand at enrolling in higher level of studies in the United Kingdom. My intention is to come to the United Kingdom as a graduate student with intentions of completing a masters degree in the future. While everyone around me believes that I enrolled in an Electrical Engineering course in an effort to follow in my fathers footsteps, I would like to believe that I chose this course using my sense of free will. If there is one thing I learned during the time that I was exposed to the world of electrical engineering with my father, it is that anybody with a degree in this field has a level head that is governed by logical thinking. Technology has an ever increasing effect in our way of life in the 21st century. It is constantly evolving and requiring more and more complex electrical systems in order to handle the power requirements of these machines and gadgets. That is a point of view that my father instilled in me at an early age and, as far as I can tell, holds true with every single day that passes that sees the announcement of a new advancement in the field of science and technology. I believe that your highly esteemed university will be able to help me mold myself into a world class electrical engineer.Your engineering courses are considered to be among the best in the world and only accepts the best students into its department. I feel that I fit the qualifications for a student in your university because I am willing to study harder than the average student in order to prove my abilities to my classmates and class mentors. I have always exceeded my professors expectations when it comes to my lab work which, I believe, is where the advancements in the field of electrical engineering take place. Therefore, my mentors will find me a willing, eager, and active participant in the educational process as outlined by the university. As a member of the student body, I believe that I will be a tremendous asset to the university as I will become an exemplary part of the student community. I am outgoung, friendly, and always willing to cooperate with others so I am already looking forward to joining on-campus organizations that I believe will help me to better assimilate into the British culture and way of life. I am like a sponge ready to absorb the information that the esteemed educators of the university is going to bestow upon the students. In fact, I will consider myself quite luckily to garner a student spot during the next term which is why I am willing to present myself for serious consideration to the admissions board. I am highly enthusiastic about pursuing my dreams of becoming a highly trained, world-class engineer under the tutelage of your academic institution even as I am also excited about venturing out into the world on my own in the country of my dreams.
