What I cherish The first thing a cherish most is my matching jogging suit. I have kept this suit since the year 2003. My nephew and I had similar jogging suits. When he died eleven years ago, he was buried in his, but I retained mine. The matching jogging suit does not have any monetary value to me; however, it has been vital in remembering my nephew since he passed away. The second thing I cherish is the ruby earrings and ring set that my grandmother gave to me as a gift before she died. She told me that she had received the set from her mother.

The ruby earrings and ring set does not have significant economic value, but it is rich in tradition and keeps reminding me of my humble grandmother’s life. The set could have been passed through many generations since I am not sure about who gave it to my grandmother’s mother. I consider myself lucky since I was selected from among several grandchildren to keep the treasure. Third, I cherish hair from both my children. Since their first haircut, I have always collected their hair and kept it in zip-lock baggies.

I find their hair attractive to me; thus, I experience pain seeing it being thrown away into rubbish bins. Similarly, my children’s hair grows from their bodies. When I think of discarding their hair, I feel as if am throwing away important part of their bodies. Keeping their hair with me also help in tracking changes of their hair during their developmental stages.
