Personal ment My father is a retired industrial security manager and my mother is a homemaker. I am the third born in a family of seven and I am a father of one. I grew up in Jeddah where I attended my elementary, middle and high school. I went to college at Umm al Qura University in Makkah city where I studied medicine. My interest in medicine developed at my sixth grade. I was on school holiday, we decided to go on a family trip, and a friend’s uncle accompanied us. At some point on the trip, we found a car parked by the roadside and we pulled over to check whether anything was wrong.

There was a girl lying on the ground unconscious and quickly, my friend’s uncle swung into action and gave the girl first aid. Shortly after, the girl regained her consciousness and the doctor friend checked her and announced that it had been a mere suffocation. This experience fascinated me and elicited an interest in me to become a doctor to help such people as our friend’s uncle did with the young girl. It is this desire that led me to studying medicine and I plan to specialize in endocrinology (Axfor & Chris 24).

I am suitable for a specialty in medicine because I have the zeal and passion for it. Medicine is both my choice and passion and I believe I have the intellectual capacity to handle its demands. My ability to listen and talk further endorses my suitability for this specialty because I can interact well with my patients. Doctors need utmost attention to detail to capture all the information they need to administer the right diagnosis and medication. My attention to detail benefits my analytical skills requisite in medicine.

I am able to collect information from patients, establish links using symptoms and laboratory findings to pronounce an accurate diagnosis (Axfor & Chris 25). Some of my relatives are diabetic and I have been helping them with their treatment and providing them with valuable information. I reckon that people who are not trained in medicine could have problems administering such things as injections and I help them in administering them properly. My training in medicine equipped me with skills to counsel patients and I use these skills to guide and counsel my diabetic relatives and other people suffering from other illnesses in my community (Axfor & Chris 26).

My commitment and love for medicine has driven me to venture into voluntary healthcare community work. During campaigns such as immunization and sensitization of the public about the breakout of a disease, I step in and assist. I view volunteer activities as avenues to give back to my society and to develop my skills as a doctor. Free screening and testing campaigns, for instance for HIV, are particularly important because they help me reach out to members of the community that would others not afford healthcare and remains vulnerable (Axfor & Chris 27).

I am a good team-worker and I have good communication skills. I am sociable and can connect with my patients with ease and thus help them to open up to me about their medical issues. I can work under pressure and can therefore attend to emergency cases with immediacy. I should be awarded this position because I have the dispositions and capability needed to handle its demands.
