? American conceptual images, psychedelic posters Thesis American psychedelic posters andconceptual images have made considerable transformations in the recent years. They have made the world of art a more fascinating scenario than it earlier was. The images that remain paramount must be visually deeply genuine, striking and intellectually stimulating. The speed at which problems associated with graphic design can be solved has been significantly enhanced by computers. It is evident that the adverse use of conceptual images and psychedelic arts has made the art world loose the originality it had before, during the era of original paintings. Even though, the emergence of these kinds of art has its cons, they have allowed for greater and profuse expression of arts than any other kinds. Conceptualization and psychedelics have allowed for image manipulation freedom. Conceptual images and psychedelic posters have taken art-world in America to a higher dimension. This research takes a deeper look at the changes, and details of these conceptual images and psychedelic posters. Conceptual images (examples) Psychedelic Posters (examples) Introduction Conceptual images essentially try to convey the concept or message of the image. Frequently, these messages are conveyed via some theoretical symbols that viewers can interpret. Even though the images contain precise meanings that they are trying to put across, usually there can be many different interpretations of the conceptual images. Conceptual art is the art in which the ideas or concepts that are involved in the work take priority over material concerns and traditional aesthetic. Conceptual design is mainly concerned with the context and content of the image. This kind of art tends to incorporate the design of the layout, text and image, with the content being the element with most significance. That is how conceptual images come about, when all the above are being considered in arts (Seminaldesign.com). Psychedelic art, on the other hand, is a category of visual artwork that is inspired by psychedelic experiences stimulated by drugs. The word psychedelic means that which manifests the mind. Considering this definition, every artistic attempt to portray the inner world of the psyche might be regarded as psychedelic. Psychedelic visual arts were a complement to psychedelic rock music. Psychedelic posters tend to bring sentiments that are inspired by insights drawn from these psychedelic conditions of consciousness. Psychedelic posters are posters that have been drawn from the altered consciousness experience that makes use of highly surreal, bizarre and distorted visuals, and animations and bright colors to convey and evoke to a viewer the experience of the artist while using such a drug. (Megg chapter22) American conceptual images and psychedelic posters French artist Duchamp provided the art world with examples of prototypically conceptual works, thus paving the way for conceptualists. Conceptual images in America have been met with a lot of critics, that it makes paintings and artistry loose their touch of reality. The task of painting has always been to provide an accurate definition of the nature of object a painting truly is. This idea of conceptual images has been found to be inappropriate to painting’s essence, and it is argued that it ought to be removed. It has been argued by others that conceptual art has brought about art’s dematerialization by omitting the requirement of objects all together. When it comes to conceptual art, the skills used in handing art works is not the same as those that are used in traditional art-making forms such as painting. Psychedelic drugs usage became prevalent, particularly in America, in the mid-1960s. This movement is attributed to a man called Hollingshead, who arrived in America in the year 1965. Hollingshead was sent by other psychedelic movement members to the United States to have their ideas explored. Popular cultures made psychedelic popular in their minds, in the 1967 summer of love, where it remained prevailing through the 1970’s. Reappearance of the style is regular in this modern era. Psychedelic art considers the altered sense of consciousness as the source of inspiration for the artists. Usually, conceptual images can be interpreted in many different ways depending on the viewers understanding of the image. In conceptual art, the concept or idea is the most significant aspect of the work. When artists make use of conceptual art form, it implies that all the decisions and planning are made in advance, and the implementation is an obligatory affair. The idea turns out to be a machine which makes the art. What makes conceptual art highly recommended is that it expresses reinterpretation and openness of visual imagery, in addition to integration of, image and words into a whole design. From conceptual images, one can figure out what the artist was trying to communicate to the viewers (http://seminaldesign.com). Conceptual imagery has an inherent message and friction which puts in a third element that is surprising. Image conceptualization is an easy way of shining through the dull and going past the dim of art-world. I personally think that most of the today’ images in America have a good touch of conceptual element, unlike those of the past which missed it entirely, thus being straightforward and dry. As a person who is interested in arts, concepts behind images and arts usually fascinate me. Although it is said that Conceptual art brings about dissonance in the society, thus jarring individuals from their traditional comprehending of arts, (www.arthistory.net), I believe that it has taken art to a whole new dimension and level. Conceptual imagery is the best and easiest way through which an artist can communicate to viewers without using words, but by using just images. Psychedelic art typically involves filling all the space with lettering, of making fluid forms that are made from letters, and making use of flowing letters to produce shapes that are intended to convey a message. Psychedelic posters make use of recycled images, flowing curves from swirling imagery, fashionable culture, intense colors, and swirling imagery. Personally, I have a strong liking for the flowing nature of these psychedelic posters, and they represent this era of divergence in art well. The adverse visual and color vibration reverberate with the psychedelic mentality of the community viewing the posters. I like the manner in which color and imagery help to express the mentality. Even though, I am not in support of using drugs so as to make these drawings and paintings, but I like the resultant posters since they are so intriguing to the mind. Psychedelic rock posters are the graphic expansions of the dance concerts and durable documents of such events. Breaking conventions of graphic design, which are long-established, the psychedelic artists abandoned legibility and order for distorted, flowing and entwining lettering and forms. The charged hues, dizzying patterns, visionary imagery and wit of their designs reveal the spirit and sound of a principally provocative moment in the American culture’s history. The more appealing and psychedelic the rock posters are, the more the rock fanatics will be attracted. In my view, psychedelic posters in rock music have played a crucial role in pulling people towards rock. Religious individuals contradict these psychedelic arts as devilish in nature, but I tend to dispute that. This kind of art of art brings the sentiments of an artist to the viewers’ attention (http://phlearn.com). By now, a huge number of people in America have used psychedelic drugs as an inspiration for art works, thus the adverse emergence of psychedelic images and posters. Psychedelic paintings and posters evoke drug visions with their crowded detail, biomorphic forms, garish colors, biomorphic forms and surrealist mythological imagery. Psychedelic posters and imagery are a mere celebration of drug experience, to the artist, and onto the viewers. One of the major disadvantages of psychedelic ideology of art is that, it has eliminated the society’s coercive mechanisms on principle; it has offered no organized distinction between madness, eccentricity and originality. There is also no distinction between the capacity to exceed the requirements of routine social modifications and the inability to meet them. The major disadvantage of the conceptual is that it has made art loose the originality which it had during the era of traditional arts. Conclusion The use of conceptual images and psychedelic posters in America’s art scene has served to benefit it more. I give thumbs up to the whole idea of image conceptualization and psychedelics. Firstly, this is because they provide an equalized relationship between an artist and the viewers of his image. They also provide a good perspective for the observation and interpretation of an image. Those who criticize the use of psychedelics should know that this is a kind of treatment that is also used in psychology and mental conditions in hospitals. They also bring about a cognitive, sensory, emotional, and psychological involvement of the viewers of these conceptual images. Without these two phenomena, the world of arts would not be as fascinating and thrilling as it is now. Image conceptualization is the best kind of art that suits this highly developed technological era, so is the art of psychedelics. Works cited Meggs, Philip B., and Alston W. Purvis.
